Synopsis
An Ancient Queen. Her Deadly Curse. The Terror Begins.
Louis Gossett Jr., Richard Karn, and Amy Locane star in this supernatural horror tale about a mummy with a heart that bears a power beyond that of our world. When the mummy attacks archaeologist Dr. Trelawny, his colleagues have to trace the source of the ghoul's power and find a way to stop it.

"In this house... guns will not help you"
I like Obrow. People knock him and it's lame, he's great at just throwing it all at the wall and putting together something that is truly absurd. The Kindred is phenomenal and The Power is criminally underrated and his take on Bram Stokers Jewel of Seven Stars sees him once again showcasing his classic approach of just going for it and making strange shit happen.
Legend of the Mummy is beaming with supernatural Egyptian terror and under all its mummified wrappings is beating with a heart of ancient cosmic prophecy that pumps a lifeforce of mystery and curses brought back from the dead. We all know who's going around offing people but…

Messy like the rotting flesh underneath the mummy's bandages. At first I was absolutely loving this (yes it is dumb but it was Fun-Dumb) but it just got worse as time went on. No clue why they thought it would be a profitable idea to slap on "Bram Stoker's The..." six years after Dracula came out, especially when the movies are worlds apart, but you know, props to you A-Pix, I still love you. Classic Video Store Trickery. There is a very good movie hidden & lost here (a vindictive Evil Mummy Queen cursing and killing in the streets of San Francisco... somebody please remake this movie!) but this really isn't as horrendous as people say. It's filmed like an episode…

1/1 Bram Stoker
7/8 Decades (1990s)
A so-bad-it’s-good film with recognizable actors having fun with the material. Most of them seem to be taking the opportunity to try out accents they’ve been dying to use but have been denied until now. Unexpectedly enjoyable. -

If you are a fan of cats, mummies and actors from Hone Improvement who aren’t Tim Allen, then this is the film for you.

I cringe. This was so bad.
Honestly, I don’t fully understand it because it’s so freaking boring, but I also don’t care enough to want to unearth the plot. Let’s keep it buried.😖

Just inexplicably appalling. Well actually that's not true, I give it a 1 star, for the sheer audacity of it's premise, apparently its based on a Bram Stoker novel 'Legend of the seven Jewels' or whatever it was, I glimpsed it on the credits, it took 3 writers to adapt it.... also I like that it says 'Not associated with the Universal Picture' on the back... as if you could.
This film involves a Mummy's Curse in a San Fransisco home, with a collection of stock characters (and actors) left over from a particularly bad episode of Murder, She wrote; in fact it could be argued it has the production values of a bad episode of Murder, she wrote, but…

If the phrase "Richard Karn starring straight to video 90s mummy movie" excites you make sure to get into contact with me immediately so we can begin our lifelong friendship.
For such an obvious cash-in on Bram Stoker's Dracula from a few years prior, even going as far as using an identical typeface for the logo, Legend of the Mummy still leans HARD into the fact that it's based on a Bram Stoker novel. Most of the dialogue in the script seems to have been either lifted directly from the novel or written in a way that suggests it was which for a straight to video piece of shit is kind of unexpected.
The thing is it's not a period…

Not a great movie by all means, but interesting that something other than Dracula from Bram Stoker was adapted into a movie. Legend Of The Mummy is based on Bram's book "The Jewel Of Seven Stars". From the looks of the poster it clearly wants to cash in on Coppola's Dracula movie. "See this magnificent movie based on a story of Bram Stoker that is about a mummy"...even though this looks made for TV and isn't as captivating and lacks the whole look. But screw it, I had a decent enough time. Time to giv Coppola's Dracula a rewatch, and later on I'll watch Kenneth Branagh's Frankenstein movie to really get the 90's resurrection of the classic movie monsters.

Hooptober 2023 - 1 Film Invoking the Name of Bram Stoker
Again, I just can’t seem to find most mummy movies very interesting. (The Mummy 1999 obviously excepted to this statement).
