PS5 version seemingly cancelled. No mention of it on the website or press release. Was previously listed on the website.

Kinda just (selfishly) looking forward to Level-5 getting this one out and working on something else. The game has become a lot less interesting over the years with the change in artstyle and severely downgraded scope.

Looks like there could be some multiplayer fun. Who would be the most likely to localize it?

Considering this thing probably won't localized, probably a smart move. Releasing on PS5 in Japan only is the equivalent to lighting money on fire.

Could have it been that thing publishers like to do "Yeah, PS5 but it's because it has BC"? I just find weird that they added a PS5 version back in November to just cancel it quietly before release.

Like the first Level 5 game to interest me and it's due to mecha.

I think it was just a legacy of the version that was intended to release in 2017 (Level-5 is also considering development on high-spec machines so that the content can be enjoyed to its fullest. Hino wants to see it on as big a screen as possible.). The current version of the game doesn't justify that imo.

It's actually coming? God damn. Hopefully it doesn't suck.
Wonder if XSeed or NISA will provide a localization. Assuming Level-5 just allows the game and not try to push the anime and toys to Western audiences. ... Fuck...
Now where's Ushiro?

I dunno man, the PS5 version wasn't even announced until November. I agree with --R that the timeline of announcing it and canceling it doesn't make much sense.

Idk why but everything I see Musashi and get very excited then I remember it's this boring looking game instead of Brave Fencer and am sad at my stupidity again.

Maybe the PS5 upgrade was delayed.

This is their third(?) attempt to make a mecha multi-media franchise. (Yes I am counting Gundam AGE as one of their failures.)

Yep. The third.
This was announced five years ago. Originally as a 3DS game.

Other than Gundam, the other one was Danball Senki, or Little Battlers Experience (LBX). Despite having like 7 games, only one saw worldwide release, and Nintendo had to publish it. Three years after it came out. The anime did air on TV, but apparently it was butchered a/la 4Kids.
Amazingly, the franchise still lives. Earlier this year there was a 12 episode anime called LBX Girls, which is based on a gacha game they released in 2017. It went the same route as Medabots. Waifu explosion.

Ah shit, I read the title as "MEGATON! - Musashi gets a new trailer!"

as in Brave Fencer.

If you've seen ps5 software sales between November and now(in Japan), it makes all the sense in the world

You don't start making a new version just to cancel it 9 months down the line. Even if it was due to seeing low sales, they could still offer it as a free upgrade / only digital thing. This is just a weird removal.

the same people who'd localize Yokai Watch 4

So which projects does L5 have left when this releases? Inazuma and Ushiro? And that new RPG project they were hiring for

A day before Shin Megami Tensei V and a week before Pokémon. Let's see how this sells in Japan then.

Looks like a game that might actually ship this year and not be delayed again. Best of luck L5.

I wish Level 5 would stop trying to establish every new IP as a media franchise. Maybe we could get a game with a decent budget if it didn't have to share one with an anime. It would also mean the games probably won't have awful 4Kids level localisation.

L5 is just a mess of a company these days. Can't even license Yokai Watch 4 to someone like NISA.
